Travelling to the Caravansalon Düsseldorf - Stopover in Jena
- Written by Portal Editor
From the New Danube campground we first had driven towards Cheb-Eger in the Czech Republic were we explored the city with its impressive castle, the Stöckl and the pedestrian zone as well as the closer areas around at the lakes for storing water (see Cheb).
Next stop should be in Jena, where we had registered at the campsite Jena "Unter dem Jenzig", a campsite which is close to the city center for exploring it.
The family-run place is using and living the slogan "Slowcamping", so there are no "artificial" parcels, but green areas on which the campers can find their sites themselves at a reasonable distance.
The motto of the short walks is actually included to the leisure facilities (sports ground and outdoor pool directly at the campsite), we had already reached the center after 10 minutes of hike along the river Saale.
A very interesting detail in the design of the campsite is an old tramway, which serves as a reception, library and lounge at the same time.
Here the view into the interior of the tram, ......
The cab also offers a view of the old technology.
Cozy atmosphere, which invites you to linger.
As a reception, there is a small desk, enough space for the laptop to register incoming guests, as the slogan "Slowcamping" is implemented by guests and employees alike.
We got to know a mother with her two children, who lives in Jena, but has inserted the campsite into their leisure activities and spend as much time as possible.
A caravan of the first generation is used as a sleeping and living space, as the second older caravan in the picture serves as a mobile accommodation for an employee on the pitch.
The campsite "Unter dem Jenzig", true to the motto "Slowcamping", family run and quiet and calm.
