 when there is choice ?

Most people who have bought property in Turkey see themselves faced with the question of what to do about furniture and the interior design of their new home. Should I buy new furniture in my hometown to bring it over here? Should I buy over here? Should I bring it from my old home? It is important to note that bringing goods to Turkey is expensive because of the huge distances involved by road or water.
The customs regulations are not easy to handle and can cause many problems.

Because of the growth of towns like Alanya and an increase in demand for modern designer furniture, some of the well?known Turkish producers of furniture have established themselves in most of the bigger towns. All their goods, whether furniture or other domestic goods, are of high quality and will last a lifetime. Their design is comparable to European standards. You can get catalogues of the furniture which is not in stock and everything you chose will be delivered quickly.

If you need to buy a fitted kitchen for your home, you should ask at one of the carpenters' shops. Buy all the units you want for the kitchen at one of the local dealers, take them to your carpenter and he will build your kitchen exactly to the measurements and design you have given him. Most kitchens are built using MDF boards, laminated with synthetic materials or coloured with special paint. It is rare you will find genuine wooden kitchens, even in big furniture shops.
If you have friends who already have a fitted kitchen, ask them about their experiences. There are some very professional carpenters who will do a good job. Do not be put off by their lack of display facilities.

From the technical point of view you can get nearly all the familiar equipment you know from Europe. The problem can be that your local carpenter does not know where to get it or how to handle it. So it can take some time to get everything together. After a little research you can find ovens, ceramics, kitchen sinks, fridges, dish washers, extractor fans and metal fittings of the well?known names. If it is not possible here in Alanya, just take the short trip to Antalya and you will find some wonderful furniture and kitchens, based on Italian designs.
