Jewellery

Sightseeing in the towns is a wonderful adventure. There are lots of different styles of shops, restaurants and bars everywhere. This is especially so at night with all the bright lights. On closer examination, you may be amazed at the high number of jewellery shops which are sometimes door to door, and you may wonder how they can survive.

Jewellery, especially gold, has always been a good bargain in Turkey. As with many other goods, this is due to the low wages for the workers and lower prices for the raw materials. If you are considering buying jewellery, do not forget Turkey.

As many European people now have less disposable income, the number of jewellers has gone down. However, it can still be a good deal to buy a gold watch, necklaces, rings or earrings. Take your time, do your research, ask for a price calculated on the weight of the piece and compare the quality of the work with other jewellery shops. This is the best way to get a good deal.

If you buy in a genuine shop there will be no problem if you ask for an international certificate, which gives a guarantee that all materials have been proofed and are in good condition. This certificate is important if you need to insure your jewels.

Another thing to consider is if you have to have some repairs done to your goods. For instance, if you have a watch which is not working properly any longer, if possible have it repaired over here. It will be done for a fraction of the cost and you can be confident of the workmanship.
