Wednesday 27. of January 2010 New design and introduction of new functions in alaturka.info!

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

dear friends and readers of alaturka.info,

maybe you have noticed, that we did not add any new articles or pictures into alaturka.info during the last weeks. The background is a complete revision of our portal with new design and couple of new functions. All this needs to be done next to our other duties which makes it impossible to update the existing version of alaturka as well. Please understand this decision. We plan the publication of the new designed alaturka.info for the 15th of February. Please forgive when not all the functions are included and mistakes appear. We are really working hard to fix all of it.

We thank you for your understanding and looking forward to hear your comments on the new layout. Partwise it might be unfamiliar, but not too difficult.

We will leave the old version online for some time, so that you can use both versions.

All the best to you our dear readers and users.

- team alaturka -

Tuesday 20. of October 2009 Doganbey - Lovely restored village for interested people in architecture!

During our visit at some friends in Didem we had the opportunity to see some places next to the touristic spots of Didem. After a short walk to see some of the old houses in Akköy and after visiting Café and Art Gallery “Green Olive” we passed the ancient city of Miletos going to National Park Dilek Peninsula. We heard about a village with a couple of old stone houses, we would like to see. After some questions to local people we, at least, could reach our destination.

Saturday 05. of September 2009 The easy way to travel in Turkey - use the buslines similar to Greyhound!

Once arrived in Turkey the question how to reach another town or place may appear suddenly. It is not the railway which is the basic transport media like in Europe. In Turkey people use an excellent bus system which is comparable to the American Greyhound system. Modern busses of high technical standards and equipped with air conditioning, TV and wireless internet connection are on service on the long distance roads within Turkey.

Thursday 03. of September 2009 For most of us the dream of our life - a holiday home in a Southern Sun Paradise!

On the following pages we would like to add some hints and tips to one of the major topics of foreign people moving over here - construction. The ideas we are talking about are comon in Europe already but quite beneficial to think about over here as well. All of the mentioned ideas are practisable in Turkey as well, even your local constructor may tell you something different. All necessary equipment is available in Turkey but often the constructor is not interested to organise them. For sure his solution can be cheaper in short term view, but we all know what is going to happen with energy costs and for sure with our environment.
