It all started when Monica, a librarian friend of mine from Houston, Texas, told me that she would be attending a librarian conference organized by a Turkish university.  We decided to spend some time together during her stay in Istanbul, and I promised to show her some historical but not touristic parts of my city.

In Turkey, a bit of the crispy sections of white bread is tasted whilst it's hot, crispy and steamy "just out of the oven" fragrance is in the air, before it is even put on the table at home. In Germany, we were always warned not to eat hot bread for otherwise we could get a "tummy ache!"

During  the last weekend the team of “alaturka” has got a very special invitation by the company BDC-Construction, to join a topping-out ceremony based on German tradition in Kargicak.

Can Bonomo started playing guitar at the age of 8, when he was introduced to music with the inspiration of his neighbor.  Throughout his high school and university years, Bonomo, together with amateur music bands, staged several concerts in Izmir and Istanbul. Finally he said, “I’m ready”, stepped up to the plate and started working on his first album. Following two years of hard work, in January 2011, the first album of Can Bonomo, “Meczup”, was released. 

We head from Mut towards Karaman on Highway 715, which is currently being improved. After the first curve at the 22nd kilometer, suddenly we are struck by the silhouette of the Alahan Monastery higher up on the mountain.
