During the last 10 years golf has become more and more popular in Turkey. This is because a lot of people, especially from England and Ireland, who used to spend their holidays in Turkey, now posses their own homes over here.
There was a great demand for golf courses from these people. Because of that there has been rapid development of golf courses along the coastline. The first courses were built next to the airport of Antalya, at Belek. These courses belong to the big five star hotels at the beach. But lots of golfers like to play on different courses during their holiday. This has led to more courses being built and now there is a large variety to choose from in and around Belek.One of the biggest courses is situated in a beautiful, even artificial, green landscape next to modern and beautiful hotels with fantastic restaurants and all kind of other services. If you love to play golf, you can find this area situated between lovely green copses of cedars, pine or eucalyptus trees around small lakes. It should be noted that this area is a little hilly.
There is an 18 hole Championship Course, and next to it a 9 hole Academy Course. Both of them are sponsored by well-known American firms.
Belek has become THE holiday resort for Golfers.
The Gloria Golf Club offers a course 6.296 meters in length, includes seven lakes and has 18 holes. You can book green fee packages easily. All the courses at Belek are connected by a shuttle system. Very close to Gloria there is another 9-hole course and a smaller 3-hole Academy Course. Another one called "Nobilis Golf Course" is a full 18 holes course.You don't necessarily need to be a millionaire to play golf in Turkey.
There is still a great demand for courses, so there will be more of them built in Turkey in the future.
