Oymapınar Alternative Tourism

Oymapınar Dam, being 18 km away from the centrum of Manavgat, is the third largest dam of Turkey. It is one of the two dams that are built on Manavgat River (the other one is the Manavgat Dam). It has been constructed between 1977 and 1984 for the purpose of electrical energy production.

At the end of the Oymapınar road you can find the gate of the Oymapınar Alternative Tourism Region. After the gate there are two paths that lead into each side. If you follow the right side path you will arrive to the front of the dam while the left one will bring you on the top of the dam. Both of these paths are included in the recommended travel destinations.

On the construction of the dam body, which has been built in a narrow walley, concrete has been used as sealant. The height of the dam from its foundation is 185 m and its length is 360 m. With a water storing capacity of 300 million m3, the lake area of the dam is 4,7 km2 and its depth is over 100m. A yearly avarage of 1,62 billion kW/hour electric energy is being produced at the dam.

The Oymapınar Alternative Tourism Region, as being one of the “must-see” places in the vicinity, greets its visitors with its always impressive scene.
