Olympos - the windless bathing bay beckons!

Olympus - the windless bathing bay beckons!

Olympos - After our nighttime hike to the Chimera fires (continuously using our headlamps), we strolled through the ancient ruins the next morning after a hearty breakfast to the beach at Olympos and Cirali, which was magnificently calm and sunny.

Not only was there hardly any visitors on the beach at Olympos, but the weather also contributed to our enthusiasm. Barely a breath of wind made the surface of the bay appear almost glassy.

In addition to two anglers, we observed several swimmers who, despite the still quite spring-like temperatures, were taking advantage of the wonderfully tempting water for swimming and climbing the rocks.

We also noticed the young man who had climbed to the top of the rock of Olympos and was now preparing to jump from a height of about 10 meters, which Jacob especially noticed.

Unfortunately, at the moment of takeoff, my camera had just turned to Tahtali, clearly visible in the background, shining in the spring sunshine at over 2,300 meters. On the approach, however, we had spotted the large snowfields on the back, which unfortunately still prevented a descent by mountain bike.

We had barely turned our gaze back to the rock when Jacob had also entered the water and was now climbing the Olympos rock.

jacob 7

We had already observed his climbing skills several times (in addition to his sometimes unconventional mountain bike excursions) and were now eagerly awaiting his dive into the water. And lo and behold, excellent marks for his posture during takeoff and flight drew much applause from the observers in the water and on the beach.

Only the dive still needed improvement, meaning it wasn't Olympic-worthy, as spray was clearly visible high up above. The expert would require a more vertical position during the dive.

jacob 9

And as if Jacob wanted to take on the humorous criticism, he climbed the rock again and...

positioned himself backward on the rock. He doesn't want to...? Yes, he does.

A backward jump with a somersault was to follow. Here, the rotation was already over, and a little later...

...the dive into the water. Jacob is a true all-rounder at Olympos rock after all.
