Murat Iştın - flying meteorologist

Murat Iştın, who is a meteorologist and at the same time, paragliding pilot, was born in Balıkesir in 1980. After completing his primary and secondary education in Balıkesir, he graduated from Ankara Anadolu Meteorology Vocational High School in 1998 and started his professional meteorology career by working at Van Ferit Melen Airport.

He was appointed to Isparta Süleyman Demirel Airport in 1999, in the same year he entered the department of Geophysical Engineering in Süleyman Demirel University. He both worked and resumed his academic learning at the same time.

Developing a passion for aviation during his university years, he joined the Aviation Club. During those years, he started his paragliding training with his University instructor Kenan Oğuzhan Oruç. But due to the hardship of work, school and club activities, he took a break from his training.

He was appointed to 4th Main Jet Base in Ankara by the General Directorate of State Meterology. After working here for 2 years, he was stationed at İstanbul Regional Weather Forecast Center.
In 2008, he received the Basic Mountaineering training of İstanbul Technical Univeristy’s Mountaineering Club. But because his Paragliding passion had a strong influence, he resumed his paragliding career with İkarus Aviation Club he met during this period. He was appointed by General Directorate of State Meterology with providing meteorological support to these sports in many international competitions. 

He still works as a unit supervisor and electronic data processing personnel in İstanbul Regional Forecast-Warning Center. Its webpage is located at meteorhaber.com.
