Kuşadası - Castle and Pigeon Island
The very small Pigeon Island (Güvercin Adası) is a few hundred metres from the mainland and connected by a walkway.
There is a fortress built by the Ottomans to prevent attacks coming from the surrounding islands. It is now a calm, peaceful, relaxing place with terraced landscapes, teahouses and cafes. Kuşadası was an important defensive port along the Ottoman Aegean coastline and therefore had great value.
