The city of Regensburg in Germany’s Bavaria state is one of the most beautiful old cities of Europe and takes place on UNESCO’s World Cultural Heritage list. In another point, we continued to discover the surrounding of Regensburg city with the couple of Hanna and Chris Röhrl. We parked our vehicle in the town of Kelheim, which is the joining point of the Danube River with the architectural and technological masterpiece Main-Danube Canal. Thus; our walking journey from the town of Kelheim to Weltenburg Abbey along the Danube River started.

We were in the city for the preparations of the Regensburg Literature Festival. Preparation phases of festival give us a good chance to know the city well and to discover the surroundings. We took the roads with the couple of Hanna and Chris, and first of all we went to the Falkenstein Castle. Falkenstein is located at the 30 km east of Regensburg city. On the slopes of the hill, where Falkenstein Castle is located, there is a worth-seeing natural rock park that spread on a 12 hectare area. The walking-tracks are marked in the park. With regard to the protection of natural fauna and flora, the visitors should be attentive not to go out of the tracks.

The town of Kallmünz, which is our target destination of bicycle tour along the Naab Valley, is located at the 25 km north of Regensburg city. Situated on a hill, the Kallmünz Castle easily can be seen from a certain distance. This castle on the rocky hill and the old stone bridge are the main attraction centers of the town. Located between the Naab and Vils Rivers, Kallmünz is called as the pearl of the Naab Valley.

We were at the camping site of Pielenhofen in Germany’s city of Regensburg. The camping site near the Naab River, which is a tributary of the Danube River, is quite a wide and well-kept place. It is certain that the camping site is frequently preferred by the canoe travelers because of its location on the riverside. At the recommendation, we planned a day-trip to the town of Kallmünz by following the Naab Valley bicycle path and our bicycle tour started after the breakfast.

Our bicycle tour in the little part of the River Main Cycle Route along the Main river gave us fresh ideas and we desired to discover the River Main with a canoe this time. We watched the people that paddling along the Main and thought about doing the same activity one day. Today was the day for it and we quickly started to search on the internet. When it became evening, we already made our reservation. Unfortunately, the reservation was not sufficient because we stuck to the weather conditions. The weather looked like there were going to be a storm or rain, but this was only a guess.

After our Vienna trip, in order to meet our caravan sponsor and make some modifications to the caravan, we passed in the town of Mertingen in Germany. In the afternoon, we arrived in the Fendt-Caravan manufacturing and servicing area and after delivering the caravan to the service, we went to lunch. Before passing to Germany, we would like to visit Vienna because of Detlef’s communication with Susanne Baertele. Our anticipation was to participate in the panel discussion, which was going to be organized early on the Gezi Concert.
