Finnelauf - each for himself and yet together: for a good cause

This year the Finnelauf will not be stopped by the corona virus. For a long time, the organizers of the SG Finne Billroda advised ideas on how the traditional and nationally known run, which is so popular with athletes, can be set up even in pandemic times.

The result: three innovations and a special school cup. “The 41st Finnelauf will not just take place on a weekend, but from April 23rd to May 9th.

“Of course, the starts with several hundred runners are not possible at the moment, as is usual. That is why we designate a total of three routes through the Rastenberger Forest, which the active can tackle individually. All you need to do is register on our website, ”explains Matthias Klug, chairman of SG Finne Billroda and member of the organization team.

How does this year's Finnelauf work?

b_450_450_16777215_00_images_deutschland_sachsen-anhalt_finne-lauf-1.jpgOnline registration will be possible from March 22nd via the website www.finnelauf.de. During the running period from April to May, the participants can daily walk from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the two, six or eleven kilometer routes and report their results online or via a slip box to SG Finne Billroda. Participants will receive the feedback form by email after they have successfully registered.

Since it is not possible to check the results, there will be no evaluation and award ceremony this year for the first time. “With the charity run we came up with something that has never been done before in the history of the Finnelauf. Volksbank Halle Saale sponsors one euro for every kilometer completed.

With the money that has been collected, a “fitness trail” through the Rastenberg Forest is to be created, which encourages young and old to take part in sporting activities in nature, ”says Klug, looking ahead. In addition to covering as many kilometers as possible, the active can also do good themselves. The SG Finne Billroda sets up a Finnelauf donation account for the benefit of the Bundesverband Herzkranke Kinder e.V., to which the participants can transfer a donation when they register.

School cup also with a special

b_450_450_16777215_00_images_deutschland_sachsen-anhalt_finne-lauf-2.jpgOf course, the pandemic does not stop at the school cup, which the young runners always contest with great enthusiasm. That is why the organizers have come up with a “school cup special”. "We have already submitted our proposal for a fundraising run to those responsible for the primary schools and would like to talk to them in the coming weeks about how to organize a special sporting highlight for our youngest," emphasizes Anika Klug, who works for the SG Finne Billroda and is responsible for the school cup.

Instead of the relay race on the Tauhardt sports field, the students could complete as many laps as possible around their own place. The club has set a maximum number of five rounds for children in the first and second grades and a maximum of ten rounds for children in the third and fourth grades. The idea of SG Finne Billroda is that each child should look for up to three sponsors who reward the laps they have run with an amount between 20 cents and 2 euros. Alternatively, a fixed amount of 15 euros can be donated.

100 percent of the money raised remains with the schools, which can use it to implement and finance their own projects. The challenge cup will not be awarded this year for reasons of fairness. "We hope that we can win many schools for this idea and that we can offer the children a small replacement for the school cup," says Anika Klug in conclusion.
