Manavgat – A Weekend with Scouts at the Climbing Park

Manavgat – The scout group gathers behind the climbing harnesses laid out on the ground to receive initial instructions on the safety system, including the double-strap configuration, carabiners, and pulleys.
At the instructor's signal, the participants put on their harnesses; color-coded leg loops make it easier to step into the system, which is then individually adjusted to fit each person's body.
At the starting point, the guide explains how to operate the safety systems, including the use of double carabiners and sliding pulleys. A crucial rule here is that at least one tether must remain connected to the climbing system at all times.
The first section involves navigating swinging beams and platforms. A good sense of balance is essential here; otherwise, significantly more physical effort is required.
Balancing on thin ropes also demands dexterity and full-body equilibrium.
Crossing the first suspension bridge requires communication among the scouts; without it, the bridge could start swaying violently due to synchronized movement, making the crossing much more strenuous.
Navigating through rope loops also places high demands on one's sense of balance; if one steps too wide, it takes extra effort to regain a stable stance.

In contrast, gliding along the zip line over long distances is pure pleasure and great fun for all participants. Important: Extend your legs in time to brake.
Crossing the swinging longitudinal beams also requires significant physical effort if one lacks a good sense of balance. This is especially true when transitioning to the next beam. The long suspension bridge spanning the abyss posed a real challenge for many of the Scouts. Gazing down into the depths requires great courage especially when .......... the surface beneath one’s feet sways so violently, as it does at the end of the course.
After the climbing session, we invite two participants from the Scout group Sadi and Erinc for a brief interview, which group leader Serken Kaplan later joins as well.
A fantastic weekend draws to a close. After receiving their participation certificates and exchanging the traditional Scout salute, the Scouts head off towards Manavgat.
