Moon God Men - Temple in Ur excavated by Woolley

Moon God Men

Archaeologists have uncovered temples to the Moon-god throughout the Middle East.

From the mountains of Turkey to the banks of the Nile, the most wide-spread religion of the ancient world was the worship of the Moon-god. A temple of the Moon-god has been excavated in Ur by Sir Leonard Woolley. He dug up many examples of moon worship in Ur and these are displayed in the British Museum to this day. Harran was likewise noted for its devotion to the Moon-god.
