Peraia – The beach opposite Thessaloniki

Peraia – In ancient Greece, the term "Perea" referred to regions situated opposite or beyond a river or a strait. This likely explains the name of the town of Peraia our latest destination which features a beach and a promenade facing Thessaloniki.
We had connected online with Toni Zampetas, who runs a camping and caravan supply shop in Peraia and also offers a few parking spaces for campers on his premises. With the caravan safely parked, we were free to explore the area.
First, we headed to the beach promenade, which was being spruced up in anticipation of the first summer visitors; the Greek summer holidays were about to begin.
The promenade was still almost deserted something that would surely change in a few days.
Flowering shrubs and parasols: the midday sun was beating down quite intensely.
We also found this idyllic beach scene along the waterfront: two parasols standing empty, far removed from any cafés or restaurants.
A stray dog also seemed at ease here, gazing out at the Bay of Thessaloniki.
A little gem made of seashells, tile fragments, and stones architectural art!
And then, another beach bar hosting the first guests of the young season.
The ferry connecting Peraia with Thessaloniki’s city centre had only been running for a few days.
Sun loungers and parasols Peraia offers a fine sandy beach and clean, turquoise waters.
