Medien Forum Augsburg: Bringing Augsburg to the World
Our current stay with Georg and Lydia in Kutzenhausen has led to a number of new connections including one, facilitated by manager Ann-Kristin, to the group "Misuk."
We will share more about the musical group Misuk later; they adapt original texts by Bertolt Brecht into songs, performing them with a band that features classical instrumentation and the vocals of Eva Gold.
Naturally, our primary goal was to see the band perform a full concert a feat we managed to achieve, at least in part, last night.
As part of the second annual "Bringing Augsburg to the World" event hosted by the *Medien Forum Augsburg e.V.* during a gala for the 2012 Media Awards at the City Galerie in Augsburg we had the pleasure of seeing singer Eva Gold and guitarist Girisha Fernando from the band Misuk perform three of their songs live.
We were absolutely thrilled by how they transformed Brecht’s texts into song but more on that later.
The event began around 6:15 p.m. with guests being introduced to the board of the Medien Forum on the red carpet outside the City Galerie.
This marked the second time the Medien Forum has held a competition to find the best ideas for promoting Augsburg and the surrounding region to the public.
Under the banner "Bring Augsburg to the World, Bring the World to Augsburg," the jury selected dedicated citizens and companies to be honoured for their commitment and contributions to the city.
A high-calibre jury had previously reviewed and evaluated various ideas and proposals, selecting winners across several categories.
Numerous Augsburg-based companies supported the awards as sponsors.
By alternating between musical performances and the announcement of winners in each category, the Medien Forum succeeded in making the second edition of its media awards ceremony highly engaging.
Furthermore, the insightful contributions from the winners offered excellent ideas for bringing the Augsburg slogan “Bring Augsburg to the world, bring the world to Augsburg” to life.
It serves as a fine example of innovative public relations one well worth emulating by other cities.
