The Suna & Inan Kıraç Research Institute on Mediterranean Civilizations

The Suna & İnan Kıraç Research Institute on Mediterranean Civilizations, within the Vehbi Koç Foundation, is an international cultural institution chartered to encourage and support researches to study, document, protect, and restore the historical, archaeological, ethnographical and cultural assets of Antalya and her environs; and to elucidate the region’s deep-rooted relations with the Mediterranean region. 

The Institute’s collection of rare books getting richer day by day; its library on antiquity with emphasis on the specific geography of the region developing as per requests by researchers; its archives of documents, photographs and transparencies are available for use by Turkish and foreign researchers and scholars. Within the frame of the annual schedules various cultural activities such as exhibitions, concerts, lectures, symposia, seminars, and archaeological film festivals are held. The Institute is also fulfilling an important function with its academic monographs in addition to two annual periodicals – ADALYA, an internationally cited academic journal covering Antalya region and Mediterranean Anatolia, and ANMED, presenting the preliminary results of surveys and excavations in the region. The Institute also provides bursaries to graduate students and financial support to excavation, restoration and survey projects and scientific studies.
