MissionMonteCarlo26 – A Visit to the Museum After Arrival

MissionMonteCarlo26 was drawing to a close at the Monte Carlo harbour or so Robert had planned. But, as often happened during the tour, things took an unexpected turn, for the Monte Carlo automobile museum had its own agenda, as Robert writes:

It was an incredible honour for me to be welcomed into the hallowed halls of the Automobile Club de Monaco. Arguably the most storied institution of its kind in the world, it enjoys immense global renown to this day not least for organizing the Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix and the Monte Carlo Rally.

Our 'Avis' at the Collection de Voitures de S.A.S. le Prince de Monaco

avis monte carlo tour 02We also extend our thanks to our colleagues’ experts deeply versed in automotive history for such a wonderfully warm reception. After the exchange of gifts and a photo session, we proceeded straight to the Avis vehicle, which, in these distinguished hands, was now able to formally see the checkered flag in Monaco. What an indescribably moving moment a story that began a century ago finally reaching its happy ending! Our thoughts were entirely with the pioneers of the past and at that moment, we had no idea what was about to happen...

avis monte carlo tour 03"Whenever I can, I stand by our 'Avis' at the Collection de Voitures de S.A.S. le Prince de Monaco (arguably one of the most famous car museums in the world) to provide visitors with information about the completed tour and hand out flyers about the vehicle. After just a few words from me beside the car, large crowds always gather; people are captivated by the beautiful story behind the vehicle and the journey. Museum staff have told me with astonishment: 'We’ve never seen anything like this here before!' Usually, lenders simply have their vehicles wheeled in and are never seen again; guided tours aren't standard practice there, either. It gives me great pleasure to break new ground in this regard. The audience is incredibly interested and has responded very positively to the ideas and intentions behind the tour I undertook! It was a joy to see so many people from all over the world from Canada to Australia, from Japan to Norway learn about Austrian automotive history in this way.

It was a great honour for us to welcome a delegation from the Austrian Consulate in Monaco to the 'Avis' at the Collection de Voitures de S.A.S. le Prince de Monaco. There, I had the privilege of presenting Honorary Vice-Consul Laila K. Schlereth with a gift not merely a memento of the MissionMonteCarlo26 message, but also a sustainable greeting featuring products from our homeland. We extend our heartfelt thanks for the fantastic organization and the incredible reception in Monaco!

avis monte carlo tour 04Many thanks for the numerous likes and kind words regarding our historic mission to Monaco! This is the final call for anyone wishing to support *MissionMonteCarlo26* and receive one of the 100 letters that travelled with us from Italy, France, or..." ...would like sent to Monaco (we could also send it later from Austria).

A wonderful project is coming to an end... for now. We are already looking forward to the next project Robert is planning. Best regards to you and your family in Brunn am Gebirge.
