Classic Cars - Meeting and Parts Market in Naumburg
- Written by Portal Editor

Classic Cars in Naumburg– Originally, our only plan was to attend the Naumburg Street Artists' Festival; however, we soon noticed the numerous classic cars moving through the traffic on the city streets.

Our interest in the vintage vehicles was immediately piqued, so we made our way to the Vogelwiese located at the corner of Jakobsring and Luisenstraße right along the tram route.

The Naumburg Tram: Also, affectionately known as the "Wilde Zicke" (Wild Goat), this historic, meter-gauge tram still operates today as a regular mode of public transport throughout the city.

From a distance, we could already catch the scent of Thuringian bratwurst, so there was certainly no need to worry about finding something delicious for dinner.

And there they stood: neatly lined up side-by-side in five rows vehicle after vehicle gleaming with chrome and polished to perfection in the sunlight, and flanked by a row of stalls from the parts market.

Their designs were incredibly diverse far more beautiful and distinctive than the modern styling of so-called "SUV" models, which, frankly, no one really needs on our roads today, and which are a far cry from the aerodynamic efficiency (the cw value) once deemed so crucial from an ecological standpoint.

Thus, it was not least our admiring glances that sparked numerous conversations with the vehicle owners discussions that went far beyond mere "car talk."

It came as no surprise, then, that during these conversations, frequent mention was made of the *Naumburger Oldtimerfreunde* (Naumburg Classic Car Enthusiasts) club, the event's organizers. It felt almost like an obligation to learn a bit more about the club itself:

The website to which we will provide a link in our second article too opens with the following sentence, which particularly appealed to us due to its refreshing candor:

"We are a cheerful community that approaches its tasks with the necessary seriousness, yet finds great joy in the preservation and restoration of vintage motor vehicles."

In doing so, we also dedicate ourselves to the promotion, preservation, restoration, maintenance, and documentation of historical automotive heritage.

Over the past few years, we have welcomed an ever-increasing number of members and friends to Oldtimerfreunde Naumburg e.V., and to this day, we continue to delight in our lively growth and rising membership figures.

Naturally, this work would not be complete without devoting ample attention to historical commercial vehicles, passenger cars, and motorcycles specifically those predominantly manufactured or operated in the Central German region prior to 1990.
