Pamucak – A Stopover and a Bike Ride to Ephesus
- Written by Portal Editor
Pamucak – We had recently reported on our meeting with Sylvia and Anselm in Alanya; now, a second reunion took place at the Dereli campsite in Pamucak. After a stopover in Pamukkale, the two had decided to take a few days of rest at the beach.
The joy of reuniting was immense, so the first order of business was to swap stories over coffee. Sylvia hadn't been idle; she had used the time to tell other campers about our project ideas regarding "wintering" and the semi-guided camper tour. It was no surprise, then, that shortly afterwards we were already having initial conversations with fellow campers about the "wintering" concept.
The two also told us about their bicycle rides through the relatively flat area surrounding the campsite, which had taken them as far as Ephesus and Selçuk. Running parallel to the moderately busy D515 highway is an old road that leads almost all the way to the Seferihisar/Kuşadası junction, making cycling a safe and pleasant option.
That same evening, we also took a walk around the campsite grounds and along the adjoining sandy beach with the owner, Ms. Doris Dereli. Dereli Campsite has been in operation for over 25 years, though the once-bustling camping business had gradually declined due to the crises in the Balkans—reason enough to revitalize camper tourism.
But for now, let’s let a few impressions of the beach speak for themselves. Pictures often say more than words.
An almost endless sandy beach.......

and tall trees providing shade.
Rare shoreline plants and .....
a profusion of blossoms!
