Mission Monte Carlo 2026 – Trip and Arrival in Monaco

Mission Monte Carlo – And then, the time finally came to set off. The Avis was technically well-prepared, and we had thoroughly inspected the planned route; yet, we weren't entirely sure if the 100-year-old vehicle could handle the rigors of the journey as Robert noted before the actual start.
We at alaturka.info had already listed the scheduled stops and locations in a previous article. But first, there was a major gathering during the "Red Bull Ring Classics Spielberg" event a fitting prelude, given that the Avis’s ultimate destination was none other than Monaco.
Visiting Legends at the Red Bull Ring (August 28–30, 2026)
Yesterday, a press conference was held at the Red Bull Ring to announce the upcoming Red Bull Ring Classics, scheduled for late August. Formula 1 stars like Helmut Marko, Karl Wendlinger, and Christian Klien spoke on the panel... and right in their midst, I had the privilege of presenting "Mission Monte Carlo 26" to the assembled media. We were able to officially announce that the project centring on the 100-year-old Avis would contribute to this spectacular "firework display of historic motorsport." An incredible honour! We are eagerly looking forward to this magnificent event featuring so many racing legends!
Then, the real journey finally began off to Monaco
Vienna’s Ringstraße Awaits the Avis
Yesterday, an Avis drove through Vienna for the first time this millennium! And what a drive it was: moving past incredible crowds along the specially cordoned-off Ringstraße, with a police vehicle leading the way and around 200 historic vehicles from the Vienna Classic Days following behind. It was an indescribable joy to witness the immense interest and enthusiasm for historic mobility.
What an incredible, indescribable experience! Our thoughts were entirely with the pioneers who built this vehicle the oldest in the field a century ago. Now, more people know about vehicles "Made in Austria." A fantastic start to Mission Monte Carlo 26.
Off to Italy – on the road with the Avis
We are experiencing so many wonderful moments that it is impossible to keep up with our posts, reports Robert from the road. Here are a few highlights: In the municipality of Stradella, we stopped at the flag-adorned town hall, where we were accorded a great honour by the mayor.
We were deeply moved by the warm reception given to the presentation of our gift symbolizing the journey's theme of peace. We would have loved to stay longer, but the schedule wouldn't allow it.
Birds of a feather
We are taking Stradella with us in our hearts, though we will never forget such heartfelt hospitality!
We had another wonderful experience in Sacile a town busy preparing for the "Sagra degli osei," Europe's oldest ornithological event (documented since 1274).
We brought a very special "bird" (Avis is the Latin word for bird) to Sacile just in time for this festival, where we were welcomed with incredible warmth by Mayor Carlo Spagnol and the Pro Sacile association.
We will never forget this, either, and will hold Sacile close to our hearts long after Mission Monte Carlo 26 concludes.
Then, Monaco is reached – the Avis holds strong!
Pure joy after giving it our all! After a grueling journey of over 1,200 km through four countries with every imaginable high and low we stand before our destination on the Mediterranean:
Monte Carlo lies right ahead of us we’re going to make it!
Even if we had to push the car even if it were the last thing we ever did we would reach the finish line!
The culmination of a 100-year history is within reach; after all the exertion, and with thoughts of the pioneers of 1926 in mind, the emotions are overwhelming...
Monaco – We made it!
Arriving at the finish line in Monaco! After one final lap of the Formula 1 Grand Prix circuit (you can see the track markings), we are overcome with joy before returning to business as usual and letting the Avis finally take a well-deserved rest: the world-class Collection de Voitures de S.A.S. le Prince de Monaco (H.S.H. the Prince of Monaco’s Car Collection) is located right by the harbour. The vehicle is on public display in these prestigious halls through September 9th.
Today, I will be with the vintage car at least from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM to answer visitors' questions. If anyone is nearby or knows someone in the area, please feel free to spread the word.
