Das Rheinland-Pfalz ist mit seiner über 2000 Jahre römischen Vorgeschichte reich an kulturellen Schätzen in Trier und Mainz. Zahlreiche Städte im Land gehen auf eine römische Gründung zurück. So hinterließen die Römer einige bedeutende Bauten und eine Vielzahl archäologisch nachgewiesener Relikte.
Im Mittelalter waren es deutsche Könige und Kaiser, Erzbischöfe und Kurfürsten sowie zahlreiche andere auf dem Gebiet des heutigen Landes herrschende Reichsstände und Burgen, die eine Vielzahl von historisch bedeutenden Bauwerken, wie in Cochem, Burg Eltz, Lahneck und Ehrenbreitstein hinterließen.
Rheinland-Pfalz gehört zu den waldreichsten Ländern in Deutschland, da die Wälder hier rund 42 Prozent der Landesfläche bedecken, wodurch sich unendlich lange Wander- und Radrouten ergeben, siehe Moselradweg!
Nicht zu vergessen: die grüne Hölle des Nürburgrings - wohl eine der bekanntesten Rennstrecke der Welt.
